November

Today I am thankful for MARYN! (Her blog is private so... you might not be able to read it.) She wrote this beautiful post about keeping a 'book of quotes and such' and the impact it has had on her life. I started mine yesterday. Thanks Maryn!

I just finished Tina Fey's autobiography, Bossypants. I loved it! She uses quite a bit of questionable language... but she is hilarious.

Now that Halloween is over, I am free to listen to Christmas music as I please. 57 days.

cheeseily thinking back.

as a child i fell asleep in my mothers bed as she read Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone.
my greatest childhood dream was to be Hermione.
I wish I had counted the times I had read each book. it would be a lot.
I wish i could say i didn't cry as Harry, Ron and Hermione sent their children to Hogwarts. but I did.
They grew up. and now it's my turn.

for me, the books and the movies have never been about Harry. They've been about Hermione. They've been about good and evil and Hagrid and Dumbledore. They've been about Ron, Ginny, Sirius and Snape and Lily. They've been about growing up and figuring out where you belong in this crazy world, they've been about love and revenge and they've been about friendship.

Pretend I was Famous.

So Grace, tell us about how your summer has been going?
oh you know, pretty good. I've just been mowing lawns and changing diapers, all that super glamorous stuff.

And how do you feel about your fathers return from his 2 week work trip?
awesome! i missed him a lot but i am really upset that he took over his bed again. I got to sleep in it with my mom. it's an amazingly comfortable bed.

Is there anything in particular you are upset about right now? (possibly having to do with your father but not about taking the bed back?)
oh yeah! I've been begging my dad to take me to this restaurant on Main Street for like... MONTHS. and guess what happened last week? it closed. he promised that he would take me. bummmer.

Speaking of restaurants, any new ones that you're dying to tell us about?
OH MY GOSH. I loved Old Towne Philly Deli. so great. Nolan and I were the only ones there and we had a PARTY. and the food was seriously amazing. if I was a rich, not going off to college in 2 months person, I would eat there everyday. YUMMY!

And what've you been reading these days?

and the journal my mom wrote to me about when I was little. boy was i HILARIOUS. seriously. I was so funny!

Well you are a VERY fascinating person, glamorous Grace! anything else you'd like to tell us about you?

well I all I can say is thank goodness for Netflix! (and my new macbook pro that I just spent a million dollars on)

- Eli Stone
- Drop Dead Diva
- 30 Rock
- Say Yes to the Dress (which is getting really old.)
- and documentaries

Well we bid you farewell you brilliant, smart, wonder of a girl.

books. i read.

2 incredibly beautiful books about 2 authors who became unlikely friends. Read them together and love them. I would suggest reading 'Autobiography' first to better understand Lucy's side of the story. Beautiful, beautiful writing, extraordinary story.

hmm.

* bad things happen to good people. My Grandpa was diagnosed with cancer last week. My dads best friend died last year. my eight year old brother's been in special education for 2 years.  i just finished this book that changed my prospective on everything. poor people, rich people, Christ, homelessness, criminals, cancer patients, african american slaves.  it changed my life.

* The fam went and spent a night in Park City, we went hiking ate yummy sushi, laughed, listened to music, went down the Alpine Slide (SO FUN), went to an art gallery (who would have thought there would be Picasso originals in Park City,UT.) fit 7 people into one tiny hotel room, gorged on the hotel breakfast, watched tv, and swam.

* PHYCH starts back up on November 10th. life is good.

books

i had a sudden realization that i totally haven't blogged about what i've been reading in the longest time! keep in mind that reading is.. my life. i am constantly reading anything i can get my hands on :)

my mother paid me $20 bucks to read this :)

this is one of the most interesting, well written, awesomest books ever! i loved learning about how gross fast food is.

this is my mom's favorite book. well, besides Poisonwood, obviously :) it's another Holocaust book that has an absolutely incredible story line. this book is... hmm. it hasn't really set in yet, the tragedy of it all. it's almost a horror story. as beautifully written as it is, it is difficult for me to enjoy a book with such a tragedy carried throughout the entire thing. i still have mixed feelings about it. mixed, depressed feelings.

Dan. Brown. gosh this guy is amazing. he is one the THE most well known authors. i adore this guy! his writing is so intriguing and entertaining. he is so smart. I not very far into this book yet but i LOVED 'Angles and Demons' as well as ' The Davinci Code.'

and of course... Criss Cross. this came highly recommended by Maryn and it turned out to be such a beautiful book. every sentence was powerful! so great.

my daddy's finally home :) i don't know if i've mentioned this before but THE BOOK THIEF is my favorite book of all time. i read it when it came out in 2006 and just finished re-reading it. it is so incredibly touching and lovely. especially Maryn... have you read this? i think you might have. you would seriously love it. i am halfway through Criss-Cross :)
