Lets talk about Christmas.

People, I LOVE CHRISTMAS. I get butterflies and a giant smile on my face when I think about it. I am in love with Christmas(time). What is not to love about it? Lights, snow, hot chocolate, sledding, Christmas songs, shopping, family, food, giving, 12 days of Christmas (we call our grandparents and sing to them everyday) chocolate advent calendars (which I left at home so I will have to eat 16 chocolates in 1 day. Yay!) Christmas parties and movies, sleepovers, and Gabe is 4.... Santa still comes to my house, and I think he will for a while. Having little siblings is the best. And just the feeling of love and happiness! it's the best. If you're not obsessed with Christmas, shame on you.

A few things:

  • Lifelong dream is to spend Christmas in NYC

  • Some favorite Christmas songs:
-"That's what Christmas Means to Me" by Paul Young
           - James Taylor's, "Go Tell it on the Mountain"  (I love James almost as                   much as I love Christmas)
-And really? Is there anything better than *NSYNC singing "O Holy                         Night"? (You should hear my mom and I belting this one in the kitchen                 while we cook)
-and lets not forget Gabe's favorite, the Glee version of "We Need a Little                 Christmas." He is OBSESSED.
-Plus lots of other incredible songs.

  • This should be fun!
  • Did you know why rings go on the left hand? (this has nothing to do with Christmas... except that my parents got married 2 days after Christmas in 1989.)

the other half of yesterdays post

I have to write about the last four things on yesterdays outline or I'll never do it. And for the record, I will never be as funny as Jane. Har Har. Seriously her last two posts have had me (whats a really clever way to say laughing so hard my stomach hurt?) laughing really hard. Jane, I really miss you... like... You're on the list of the top 5 things I miss about Bountiful. LUVS! (hopefully no one takes that seriously. I don't say LUVS! thats disgusting)

4. Being comfortable
5. Messy ponytail
6. Best Christmas album
7. Old-ness

4. If girls are wearing super fashionable clothes and they are pulling and pushing and fixing their clothes all the time, I want to hurt them. The cutest thing is when you have cute clothes and you're comfortable in them. Also... If you are a normal, maybe slightly awkward girl and you feel like boys people will like you more if you wear a shorter skirt or a tighter/low cut shirt and you just want a boyfriend SO MUCH! Please don't. It makes everyone feel weird. If you're naturally slutty girl, go for it!

5. Yesterday in church my R.A. told me that I can totally rock a messy ponytail. I guess she's never gotten out of bed 8 minutes before church and thrown her hair into a ponytail... I didn't actually think in my brian, "I am going to be fashionable today and wear a messy ponytail..." I guess it just comes naturally for me.

6. This can be a touchy subject... I have quite a few favorite Christmas albums, but for right now I just want to talk about Bruce Cockburn's. (it's pronounced Coleborn... don't be weird) this album wins the most listed to award at our house. It was released the year I was born. So... I don't even know what Christmas would be without it. It really is just a solid album. If you're into folksy stuff.

7. Old-ness. Oh man. Old-ness can seem scary but this website always makes me feel really good about growing old! I am going to be coolest old lady!

and last but certainly (this is a little sad. I spelled certainly with an S. Then I fixed it) not least I just want to say that my mom and I should be professional comedians. We text each other all day long and we are so dang funny! I wish I had a good example... But I think our humor would be far too funny for you to understand.

At Angie's on Main St. they fill up that little sink with ice cream. To celebrate mine and lizzie's birthdays, we cleaned the sink. then I barfed. but not really.

P.S. Did you know the "Dear Mr. President" by P!nk features the Indigo Girls?

music.

when i was little, every night after bath and jammies we went to our parents room and danced. my dad had a big barrel drum and a huge stereo with speakers all over the room. I thought the 5 disk CD changer was the greatest thing, all those CD's spinning around. We'd laugh and dance and jump on the bed until we were too tired to move and daddy would take us to our bedroom. those are some of my happiest childhood memories. now when i hear the music that we danced to, it feels familiar and beautiful. it's inviting, kinda like an old friend.

Music my parents played when I was little:

Bruce Springsteen
James Taylor
James McMurtry
Toots and the Maytals
The Carpenters
Indigo Girls
Eddie From Ohio
Michael Jackson
John Denver
Elton John

and lots more.

on monday my mom and I went to Indigo Girls. ok. think of your favorite band, you know all of their songs and you listen to them all the time. now times that by a billion. that is how much i LOVE the Indigo Girls. i'm serious, my mom is obsessed and she naturally tried and succeeded in passing the obsession on. BUT just so we're clear here, they are on my Top Ten Favorite Artists which has no particular order. so i love them equally. with 9 other bands.

Look who i found! nails look good janey gurl.

OFF TO SANDY EGO!
i'm not an idiot.
Gabe calls it that.

This weekend.

turned out so much better than i thought it would. With the boys and daddy in St. George, mom and i had a PARTY!! No seriously we had so much fun. I got to play with her a little bit and with my friends a little bit, it worked out beautifully.

FRIDAY- CHENOA TURNED 18! there was no school but i had musical the entire day, when i got home at 4:30 i jumped in the car and mumzie and i got dinner at my very favorite restaurant in the whole wide world, Royal India. I feel TERRIBLE for those of you who have never eaten here. yum. then we went and saw Secretariat.

The fastest race horse of all time. One of the best movies I have EVER seen. incredible.

When we got home I ran to Chelsea's and got dressed for Tiana's big party, we dressed as creepy zombies and I have to say we looked pretty dang good. pics to come soon. hopefully. anyway we had a blast and got dipin dots when we were done, then played at Chelsea's for a little bit.

The best part about dad leaving is that i get to sleep in mommy's perfect bed. ahhhhh. so lovely. So i laid down in moms bed and told her about the evening to which she replied, "dipin dots sounds good. lets go to walmart." so we got up and put some shoes on and messed around at Wal-mart... we didn't end up going to sleep until around 2 :)

SATURDAY- musical all day, phone got stolen which really... never mind, i won't get onto that subject. Chenoa had her birthday party, we had dinner at her house then went to nightmare on 13th.

(notice the incredible glow-stick hat :) I adore these girls. and cc.

oh i love her.

chelsea kind looks weird.

(CC took all of the above pics.)

Then i went home and slept.

SUNDAY- for breakfast we made ableskievers, those yummy danish pancake things. it was weird not to have to triple the recipe in order to feed the entire army, we just made a baby batch to feed two people. the recipe calls for buttermilk which we didn't have so my mother decided to make her own by dumping some vinegar into regular milk... the result was vinigarskievers, the dough tasted NASTY, but the final product wasn't too bad (: we skipped church because we are bad people. nah, just neither of us felt super great so we cleaned up a little bit and in so doing found a karaoke C.D. of JOURNEY! so we sang our little hearts out through the entire C.D. and laughed, played around and took these pictures:

for dinner we had homemade root beer and pizza. the house was so quiet and peaceful. I think i will remember this weekend forever. (: happy grace.

mumzie is 43 today.

oh boy do i ever love that lady.

favorite mumz quote of the day.

"...then Nolan and his ferret can live happily ever after together in the dungeon."

that doesn't really make sense out of context. hmm. too bad.

i love glitter in the air by pink. have yourself a listen. only i am simply to tired to post a link, well... i'd rather just put my favorite parts of the lyrics.

Have you ever thrown a fist full of glitter in the air?
Have you ever looked fear in the face
And said I just don't care?
It's only half past the point of no return
The tip of the iceberg, the sun before the burn
The thunder before lightning, the breath before the phrase
Have you ever felt this way?
Have you ever hated yourself for staring at the phone?
Your whole life waiting on the ring to prove you're not alone
Have you ever been touched so gently you had to cry?
Have you ever invited a stranger to come inside?
It's only half past the point of oblivion
The hourglass on the table, the walk before the run
The breath before the kiss and the fear before the flames
Have you ever felt this way?
Have you ever wished for an endless night?
Lassoed the moon and the stars and pulled that rope tight
Have you ever held your breath and asked yourself
Will it ever get better than tonight? Tonight

wow. the song is just beautiful. i could cry. but seriously. i am SO TIRED.

here's what's up.

warning: this has the potential to be a (very) long post.

i was supposed to go to another leadership conference with all the officers. but here's the deal... i don't have another $300 to spare. so i stayed home. and i'm glad i did. this is why.

on monday i went shopping with my mom. wouldn't have missed it for the world. and we ran through the sprinklers and we went to a Raptor's baseball game :)

on tuesday i took my nanny boys ( for lack of a better term) to the rec center. we had so much fun! (plus i got some good money :) then i got home and my dad asked me if i wanted to go to Paul Mccartney. OH MY GOSH!!!!! it was so amazing :) happy early 17th birthday to me. i had such an incredible time. (plus i met this cute girl) it was amazing that one person from my favorite band was standing in front of me. SEVEN ROWS in front of me!! yeah. ground seats, seven rows in front of a freaking musical genius. my dad went to paul Mccartney when he was 16! with his girlfriend... well im not cool enough to have a boyfriend so i went with my daddy :)he is so funny. we got this lady to take our picture and she asked where we were from so we told her and she said she was from montana!! then my dads like, "well it sucks that you drove all the way down here cuz Pauls gonna be in montana in 3 or 4 weeks." the look on that lady's face was priceless!! she freaked out a little bit and my dads like, "nah i'm just kiddin," she laughed pretty hard at that one. my brothers totally ended up with his humor... ANYWAY!!! the pictures!!

my IDOL!!!

then we went to in n out and got extra large drinks. i have never drank that much pink lemonade in one sitting.

Today i got up late, went to the bank, got some gas and went to gym. then i came home and mom asked me to take the boys somewhere... typical. but of course, we had a blast. i took them to wal-mart and let them pick out toys and treats (i spoil them) gabe picked out a tractor and satchel picked out water balloons. SHOCKERR! and we went to the park
this is a balloon filled with sand. it was very awesome. until it popped.

then i took these pictures-

then i made this cute cake... that i can't get a good picture of

a picture's worth a thousand words.

could just sit here and describe to you the awesomeness of this concert. The toots and the Maytals are definitely one of my favorite bands... but i figure 1 picture can tell you so much more about an experience than any words that come from my. big. mouth. (p.s. when i own my own photography company it will be called a thousand words photography.)
