hey you (part 1)

hey you. yeah you. you with the freshman vice sweater on. don't look at me like that, i know who you are. and you are not superior to me in that jacket. i wore one too you know. i think i was a lot like you. i felt so much better then everyone when i wore that jacket. i felt loved and popular. i hate to admit it but it's so true. i have no idea who you are, but at the same time, i know you exactly. when you wear that jacket, no one can harm you or tear you down. or so it feels. i am so different now. next year i will wear a new jacket. not because i looked cute. or had a lot of friends. this year i know exactly how i earned it. i took a look at the world around me. i cared. i was friends with the friendless. i smiled. i loved. and i'm not perfect. i promise. not even close. but i try my hardest to be kind.
