Chocolate balloon bowls

I saw these these pudding cups from Bakerella a while ago and have always dreamed of trying it! And can I just say... it was a disaster. A very fun, hilarious disaster. This is how Bakerella did it:

This is how I did it:

Yep.

Here's what happened: I heated up some chocolate chips with a little bit of shortening (NOT butter because that turned into a weird fudge kinda thing...) and got so excited, I started to dip the balloons as soon I pulled the chocolate out of the microwave. Three chocolate covered balloons exploded on me so I put the chocolate in the fridge for a minute and when I pulled it out, it was too solid to use to I put it back in the microwave and... it was a vicious cycle.

12 CCB's (Chocolate Covered Balloons) ended up exploding on my brothers and I.  Chocolate was splattered EVERYWHERE;  the fridge, oven, microwave, toaster, all of the countertops and cabinets, my glasses, Satchel's glasses, my dads work shirt, my face, my hair, and the floor. (luckily Walker is in charge of mopping muahaha)

It was pretty hilarious. Every time one would pop Gabe and Satchel and I would scream and then laugh our heads off, I should have taken more pictures. As we dipped our balloons in the bowl our faces would scrunch up and we'd close our eyes in anticipation of the POP.

SO. A few tips for anyone who is about try this out. DO IT. It was really fun. I would recommend buying some very high quality water balloons... be patient! Wait for the chocolate to cool off a bit. Also, just to be safe, you might want to do it outside and don't wear clothes that matter to you.

My mom and I were looking at it the other day (granted it was post-midnight) but we were laughing so hard we were crying. It's just a site for disaster Pinterest crafts. Check it out: http://pinstrosity.blogspot.com/ :)
